RF Repeater Parameter Test Method

As to check the RF repeater parameter such as: maximum gain, gain flatness, output power, intermodulation,EVM, VSWR, Noise Figure and so on. In this article, I want to talk the Test method.

1. Maximum Gain Test Method:

Test Device: Network Analyzer(Agilent 8753ES)

Test Method: Connect the calibrated vector network analyzer to the device to obtain the maximum gain in the band.

2.Gain Flantness Test Method

Test Device: Network Analyzer(Agilent 8753ES)

Test Method: Connect the calibrated vector network analyzer to the device to obtain the maximum gain and minimum

Calculation formula:Max.Gain= In-band maximum gain – In-band minimum gain

3. Output Power Test Method

Test Device: Signal Generator (Agilent E4438C), Compressive Analyzer (KEYSIGHT N9020A)

Test Method: Set the signal generator to CW signal (WCDMA is set to WCMA 3GPP modulation signal), the signal generator frequency is set to the measured system center frequency, adjust the signal generator power until the device outputs the maximum power, and read the comprehensive analyzer output power value.

4.  Intermodulation Products Test Method

Test Device : Signal generator (Agilent E4438C), Comprehensive Analyzer (KEYSIGHT N9020A )

Test Method: Set the signal generator to CW signal, set the signal generator frequency to the measured system center frequency, adjust the signal generator power until the device to the maximum power, set the signal generator to two signals spaced 600khz, and read the Inermodulation at this time.

5.EVM

Test Device : Signal generator (Agilent E4438C), Comprehensive Analyzer (KEYSIGHT N9020A )

Test Method:Set the signal generator to WCMA 3GPP modulation signal, set the signal generator frequency to the measured system center frequency, adjust the signal generator power until the device outputs the maximum power, and read the integrated analyzer output power reading.

6.VSWR

Test Device: Network Analyzer(Agilent 8753ES)

Test method: calibrate the VSWR instrument with network analysis, and then connect to the device to read the worst value of VSWR in the frequency band.

7.Noise Figure

Test Device:  Noise analyzer(Agilent N8973A), Noise signal source(Agilent N4001A)

Test method: Calibrate the noise source and noise analyzer,The repeater device is connected to the noise analyzer and noise source after three minutes of power,Get the worst noise value in the band

These seven parameter are the Key parameter of the repeater and almost all of the telecommunication device paramter. It is key to envalue the qualitay of the repeater.
